The moment he got home, she hugged him tight and dug a knife into his chest. He inhaled, sharply, making strangled sounds as she kept digging into him. She had to have it before anyone else snatched it away from her. His heart. His warm, bleeding heart. It was hers.

The couple knocked loudly on the door, but It knew better than to let itself be seen, so It hid in the shadows until they came in and closed the front door.

They tasted better than It had hoped, and as it wiped the blood from its chin, It grinned.

He saw her watching from a corner of an eye as his alarms rang. Her hand poised to slap his face, he gripped her in a cold embrace. She'd been intent to shoot the cuckoo-clock tongue. Now it mattered not. He'd stabbed her back, and kissed her in the aftermath.

I brought some friends home, for a visit. I wanted to take them into the woods. I had many fond memories of them. My mom insisted we follow the rules. Being an adult, I laughed. I went past the line. It was less than a second before it got me.
