Homeland

Beaches of glass

Crystal clear reflection of your past

While bones are scattered in the sand

And ashes dance in the air

Flowing through corpses

Littered on the streets

We are all tied by the ankles

Hoping you don’t drop the Anchor

But you do

And then you burn the truth

Constructing a perfect facade with the smoke

But I get loose

Floating to the surface

I survive your sentence

But the guilt haunts me

Grabs me through the hair

Lifts me to the top of Mt. Everest

And then lets me fall

I see their blood coloring the ocean

But even sharks know to stay away from you

The smoke might have cleared from my mind

But I still have the scars from your anchor

And I can’t leave you behind

I can't hate you
