Writer's Block
I'm sure we've all experienced this dreadful thing at least once in our lives. The most important part to overcoming it is to just write, start somewhere, even if it's just random words. Write about it: how it feels, how to overcome it, any advices for fellow writers etc. Anything goes. Have fun and don't forget to tag me :)

Get back to writing

Overcoming writer’s block might be a difficult thing to do, particularly when one has a strong desire to write. Which might seem like a paradox, but it is not: the trick, I think, is to just allow yourself to be in this phase of lack of inspiration, during which your psyche, maybe in a subconscious way, tries to come up with a solution and a very good idea could emerge at some point, if you remain relaxed. But we use to push ourself and therefore accumulate an unnecessary pressure which, in reality, makes your brain to flounder and take more time to do his job, which is counterproductive and something we tend to avoid, and, doing so, the tension only grows and we are in a bigger pickle...

So how not to be caught in such a vicious circle? We just should not ponder too much or, ideally, not at all, which is a very rare, transient state of mind. The first step could involve stopping to call it a “block”, but only a pause for reflection. And who knows if what you come up with after hours of consideration and hesitation, so little and unimportant as it could appear, although hardly earned, isn’t better than what you get effortlessly and rapidly? I guess it will stay an unsolvable mystery unless the machine permitting the alternate dimensions travel is invented.

"The first step could involve stopping to call it a “block”, but only a pause for reflection." That's a good way to begin. When I feel like this, I just start typing, and then, it just goes with the flow. And I have this schedule thing, it works out quite well ^-^ Nice post, buddy!

I love this. When I'm struggling to write I definately find that even a ten minute meditation helps. Or I'll just journal about my lack of inspiration. Something always comes up. Just have to write on! :)

@EugenPetrascu love this!

@Chacko_Stephen Thanks. The trick is to go with the flow, but you kind of need also some discipline. It is like trying to tame a beast: you cannot be too severe in treating it, but you cannot let it be totally free and wild, because it might devour you... It is fascinating how these things work, somewhat similar to a mystical journey.

@jmcbee Yes. Eventually, even the donkey can be milked, you just have to find the proper way to do it. Xd.

Wow, buddy! Well said! Are you always this poetic ;) I mean, that was really good. Even your comments can make great posts!

I am poetic when it comes to feelings and concepts, although I fail to depict the actual reality. I am mostly interested in ideas, ultimately. But thank you anyway, it feels good to be appreciated by a fellow aspiring writer. @Chacko_Stephen

Your vocabulary makes me jealous, man XD Well, it's a great thing to be interested in ideas. Ideas built this world around us, they built everything around us, and a mind interested in ideas is a curious one, and curiosity, on the other hand, is the greatest weapon of humankind. So, that's amazing ^-^ There is this quote in the movie Inception, I suddenly remembered that, it's so well said; https://i.pinimg.com/564x/7e/6f/53/7e6f5398e6bf9aa71d70fd0bf6f2911a.jpg ;)

You are right @Chacko_Stephen. I loved the movie and completely forgot about the crucial role that ideas play in it.

This is great advice. Sometimes we try too hard and get the opposite result we want. I've noticed sometimes when I'm stuck, I get distracted by something else for a while, even a few minutes, and when I come back to my writing, it's like my brain has been kickstarted back into action and the words just flow out. I've read some studies on how our brains are actually wired in such a way that they can be more creative during periods of relaxation than during deep focus, and I've definitely experienced that in action.

Glad to see that my intuition have been confirmed by factual science. I have never read books on this subject, only eastern philosophy about letting it all flaw in an unrestrained, casual manner, but my experience has led me to the conclusion that they are true. However, it is interesting to notice that sometimes stress might also entice you to create, but the emotion should not be too intense and you have to cope with it, and it is equally fascinating how a distraction might help to get out of the pickle, although it is good to have discipline and focus mainly on the same thing, which accentuates what mysterious, somewhat contradictory, our brain is. Ultimately, everything goes, just f-ing do it! Xd. @nightscribbler

Agreed! Sometimes I make myself write even though I am empty of inspiration in the hopes that something will arise from the drivel. However, lately, accepting the "pause for reflection" rather knocking my head against a block, has been far more effective. :-) Thank you for sharing this piece, @EugenPetrascu!
