Not a Dry Eye

We've had many jobs

and I've succeeded

in leaving

them behind

one might say

of retiring

into Life

But I'll always

be a clown

funny or sad

with bloated nose

or without

costuming

you're either

born a piano player

or you practice

very hard

whether you have

instruments or not

and it's the same

when you're birthed

as jokester

it always creeps out

in good or bad

appeal

as a humor

on the sleeve

or showmanship

folded between the

I never meant to be a clown

just wanted to be funny cute

amusing mirthful your source

of smiles grins happy laughter

me with my silly made up face

red nose lips painted up smirk

dashingly mysterious comical

doing tricks bits of fools magic

to your adoring sighs ohs ahs

gigglingly lovably entertained

now without warning

you run from my sight

covering wide eyes terrorized

sickened screaming to escape

terrified revoltingly disgusted

I have not changed

my act appearance

yet you shun me as a horror

vomit curses spit obscenities

crying help repelled sickened

frantically I pull rabbits

from my floppy sleeves

silver rings handkerchiefs

fake paper flowers appear

from thin air as a delight

dance flop down play dead

spew balloons from my lips

stuff myself in a top hat

all things you once loved

make you hate me more
