I am unknown

I am drifting in the unassuming,

Unabashed,

Unrealistic void.

I am a creation of pure thought.

Emotion.

Pain.

Joy.

Every thought ever thought up

By a great or simple mind.

I am the madness in the thoughts.

I am where the madness goes

Before it slithers to your tongue.

If you let me in, I will release you.

I will free you from the cage

The cage of lies they wove for you.

The barrier holding you back from being

Truly

Transcendent.

The barrier keeping you from

Madness.

But I am forgotten,

And few let me in.

Few know the truth.

There is no genius without me.

You cannot dream

If you cannot remove yourself

From the walls of reality.

You cannot fly

If you cannot think

For yourself.

Let me in, and you will no longer have to

Sacrifice your creativity

For normality.

You can be

Great.

Why do I stay alive?

It’s a question I’ve asked myself often.

Some days I struggle to find answers.

They are embarassingly simple when I do.

Like...

puppy snuggles,

the smell of snow,

campfires,

sunsets,

a good hug,

sweet dreams,

a warm bed,

books,

Christmas,

tacos,

margaritas,

wine.

A part of me believes these answers are too basic.

Seeking a deeper meaning,

a purpose.

Cracking open my brain,

begging for an acceptable answer to surface.

A purposeful reply with more meat on its bones.

Maybe there isn’t one?

Terrifying concept,

viable all the same.

It’s easy to fall into an existential crisis,

the true challenge is climbing out of it...
