Juliet, You Lied
Juliet says not to swear by the moon as it is too inconstant. Do people not change also? Though the moon may change, it is fair to discriminate when humanity does also? No the moon may not be constant every night we sight it. Yet does it not show in the darkest times? When the world goes black, the moon promises us the only source of light it can supply. Its white light breaks through the dark nights sky which can hold demons as evil as Hades. We allow the moons light to dance upon our skin and provide us salvation. The moon does so every night and yet it is called inconstant.
Everynight it appears and gives us a light in the dark. It changes, so do I, so do you and so does humanity. If one does not change, are they truly human? So, Juliet, you lied to your Romeo. The moon is among the most pure, trustworthy and caring in our universe. Perhaps it was less to do with its constance, perhaps Juliet, just perhaps, you felt the moon was too good for us. And it is true. The moon is too beauteous and pure of heart for us. We do not deserve her.
And she does not deserve to be cursed to an eternity of providing for such ungrateful souls.
Lady of the Opera
Beauty.
Elegance.
Astounding grace.
She walked like an angel without wings;
Barely floating though she seems to soar.
Her hair the shade of a raven’s feathers.
Eyes that thieved what once belonged to the galaxy.
I had seen her that night at the Opera,
So close yet so far away from me.
Why can I not be as beauteous as she?
I walked, not soared.
My hair dull as a strays fur.
My eyes a mere common brown.
No, I was not ugly- nor was I a beauty.
Yet she defined artistry and grace.
Many moons passed and yet she stuck with me.
No one would ever compare.
No one would ever be as gorgeous and alluring.
No one would ever be she- the lady of the opera.
