How many nights did you wait for a phone call that never came

How many days did you wait for a letter that never came

I was never that good with numbers and words

You were hurt, I know, I was too

You were hurt then

I was hurt when it was over

I can’t explain how or why I was who I was

I know telling you I loved you doesn’t mean a thing now

I know sorry doesn’t fix it

I do hope that time has.
