"Comfort food for the soul." I'm quite down, fellow prosers. Times like these, only poetry soothes me. Please write a lovely poem about comfort or comforting somebody. Make it at least 50 words. Tag me because I want (need) to read.

still

It's not always journaling,

hot baths with

scented candles,

warm blankets,

sunsets, or

decadent chocolate cakes.

It's not as cliche

as a smile from a stranger

or a note left

lying, "You are beautiful"

because let's face it,

they've never seen you

before.

Sometimes it's as simple as

feeling the heat radiating

next to you in bed,

knowing he's there

without ever opening

your eyes.

Or how even when you've cried

yourself into a puddle,

your dog lays in your lap,

as your tears pelt his face

like rain.

Sometimes it's that one

line in a song

that you think about all day

because they get it.

And other times,

it's knowing in the back

of your mind, that even if things

don't go the way

you plan,

you always have the

chance to

comfort

someone

else.
