Elusive
I want to touch your skin
leaving faint imprints from afar.
The light of you burns my soul
and combusts me in your flames
but I can’t grasp you in my hands.
Stitched loosely together,
unwinding in threads of loss,
ethereal essence of you
floats in a different passage
unconnected to my world,
while I drift inconsolably lost.
You fall on disconnected
fallow earth beneath skies
that never end, within
a sphere of frozen glass -
an embezzled life pressed
between the empty spaces
of our yearning breasts,
blown away like dandelions
in the erstwhile breeze.
Fragrance scents the garden
of love that never existed
as love goes riding by
on the back of white mare
wearing blinders as
it gallops swiftly
looking straight ahead,
unaware of the shades
and shadows erasing
the cerulean sky.
