Believe In Me by Demi Lovato

"I've lost myself

Trying to compete

With everyone else

Instead of just being me"

What if I lost myself

Beyond the point of retraction?

What if I never find who I am?

I almost just said again…

But I don't think I've ever just been me

What if I don't know how to be me?

What if I don't know how to be happy?

I lost my way in the emptiness

I don't think I'll ever find the track again

A lost soul

Doomed to wander this desolation

Is all I'll ever be

Glassy eyed and even breathed

"I don't wanna be afraid,

I wanna wake up feeling beautiful today"

What if I never feel beautiful?

It's starting to sound more and more like a possibility everyday.

"The mirror can lie,

It doesn't show you what's inside"

What does it matter

If I don't feel beautiful inside and out?

"It's amazing what you can hide

Just by putting on a smile"

It's a mask of happiness,

Fragile as ice.

BB King, Vic Theater, 1987

when you first fall in love

she's willing to do anything

to make sure you're happy

he explained from the stage

as he strummed his guitar

ever so gently

with the fingers and thumb

of one of his enormous hands.

the minute you open your eyes

in the morning, she is standing

beside the bed

with an overflowing tray of food

and you ask her

my, what's that?

and she replies sweetly

that she made you breakfast.

on the edge of the tray is

a steaming porcelain cup

filled with coffee,

and she offers

the entire package to you

without another word,

then lies down beside you

under the covers.

she touches your chest

with fingers warm

from holding the cup,

curls her body around yours,

and dozes lightly while you eat.

many months pass, and

one solemn morning

lying quietly beside her

you realize she hasn't

even made coffee

for a long time,

and you ask her quizzically,

why don't you cook me

one of those pancake breakfasts,

like you did

when we first met?

but instead of rising,

she rolls over quickly

looks you straight

in the eye, and snarls,

fix it yourself!

and that's how you know

the thrill is gone.

Grenade (by Bruno Mars) - Don’t dedicate a song to me, then leave.

You say you'd catch a grenade for me? Say you'd put your head on a blade for me? That's funny. I'm busy dodging grenades that you're throwing at me. Skipping through fields of land mines, in hopes to find relief. Maybe you could take your head off the blade, and put your heart on your sleeve. Because, when we meet, my physique speaks "magnifique." That's why you chose to drop me, but my...friendship to keep. Sticking my heart in your pocket as you sit and watch me weep. Watch me weep. Watch me weep.
