Unquotable Quotes

Some snippets here as I recall them from the family I was shackled to;

My Grandmother: Am I going to heaven or hell? To be honest I don't care because I got friends in both places.

My Aunt Emily (after I asked her about the potatoes she was peeling);

What are the eyes in the potatoes for? So they'll see us through the week.

My Mother; (on my turning up at home at 0430 in the morning); fuck you. Sleep outside.

My Brother Peter (staunch Bowie fan and self taught but rather rubbish guitarist); What's a gig? Are you fucking stupid?

There are plenty other treats I could expose, but that's enough for now.

Granddad - "Remember dear, romance is only in books." "My Bella is always beautiful."

Mom- "You are my starlight; my only starlight//You make me happy when skies are grey//You'll never know dear, how much i love you//please don't take my starlight away" (inspired by the song "you are my sunshine" She made a verse for each one of us (her children))

Dad- "That cashier needs to stop flirting with my wife."

(me)- "i doubt he was hitting on mom,"

(dad) "Then he needs to stop flirting with my daughter."

Glenn ‘Gator’ Ray McGuirt (my Dad):

"Don't ever meet your heroes, son...I could have had George Jones for a roommate back in the 60s, but I liked him too well to do that to us."

"If you want to be a recording artist, you can't afford to give a shit about anyone but yourself; that's just the way it is."

"Someone stole your song idea? Think of it as a compliment..."

"I think that third line in your second verse could use some work..."

"God writes the songs; I just hold the pen."

"Son, remember--EVERYBODY is having a bad day."
