Dog poem
Write a poem about a dog, and what a dog means to you. Not just the symbol society has decided on, but the one you feel like represents a dog the most. This poem can be in any style. And please put trigger warnings if any apply. Thank you, and have fun!

Dog

Dutiful

And that‘s the Danger

of a soldier of the Dirt

Determined and

Dead-set to follow

any Doctrine

Despite the master.

Overjoyed

with the Owner’s presence

Overflowing like a

cup in an Ocean

a reward for Obedience

of the Outcast

taken with Open arms.

Golden

a Golden heart

whose Gates open

to the Glorious

to the Gaudy

whether Gallant or Gross-

Their hearts do not care

For that’s a Dog.

Jimbob

Little feet

Big old ears longer than your tail

Rolling in the snows

Drinking muddy ponds

He came from far away

But he's here to stay

Now

Our Jimbobby Dog

My Doberman

As a philanderer

myself

of course

I prefer

to pet

the one-man-dog

The kind

that needs

a blow in the ear

to unlock

enemy clamped jaw

I like the type

that growls

at strangers

and lolls

its tongue

belly side up

for selected fun

I like the

canine

who knows

its herd and

attends before

being called

who takes lead

without rope

and heels

at the sole

We Are Family

Lets just cut to the chase

My girl, Houston....she owns me

All it took was just one look at that face

Yep, it was a done deal to that we'd both agree.

She is just shy of one

Being a German Shepherd her growing is no where near done.

Right now, she is almost 90 pounds of pure fun

You should see her do the crazy run

I truly believe God knew we would need a major blessing to be with us in this life

to see us through the grief and strife

one who would be by our side through thick and thin

Loving us simply for who we are within

He created dogs....and oh what a blessing...

In my life I have had amazing dogs ....no, not dogs - family....

From my childhood - Sandy the Brittany Spaniel and Chico the Chihuahua....and to those who I have loved as an adult....Boudreaux a shepherd mix who along with his newborn siblings were found in a dumpster...to Jackie the Jack Russell, Sam, Brandy and Harley my German Shepherds - all of you are loved and missed. I am so grateful to have had you as part of my family and forever a part of my heart.

To the girl named Houston I love you

Thank you for being wonderful you.
