We’ve got rain in the Sahara

Warm beer

on a hot night

is better than

a dry mouth

and no beer

at all.

Friday night

Too many barflys

With too little money

But they find their way

I'd bring all the fly swatters

I can for them

But I can't afford it

Im deep in the drinks

And I won't be rid of them

They're my kind

Of people.

The lost pages

If I still had

All the poems

For all the women

That I have written

Them for

I might have

Enough pages

For another

Book.

Super Market

A little bit of Bread.

A bottle of Hot sauce.

One jar of Mayonaise.

2 bottles of Whiskey.

A pack of Cigarettes.

Some cat food.

Paper for the typewriter.

A Hershey's bar.

Something to wash

away the hangovers.

Have I forgotten to pay

the rent again?

Subtle ideas.

Drink more

write more,

she told me

these things,

and I felt

love in my heart.

Challenge
Opening Sentence
You know how they say the first few lines of a novel or short story are the most important ones, as they should grab the reader's attention? Well, here is a challenge for you: share with us no more than 3 sentences of your either already existing or soon to be written novel/short story, and let us guess the plot. The most impactful one will be crowned the winner. (Please no more than 3 sentences & remember to have fun!)

Marked for Sorrow

The rain fell, trickling down the window. This was a time of night when it was the quietest; it was calm and everyone sat near the window listening to the rain. Hearing the floor creak with every step worried Avery, because with every step a noise was made and if he was even a bit too loud he would be heard and if he was heard it was then that he would be caught.

Something to remember

Having a drink

doesn't always

help the pain,

but it does,

help you

sleep at night.

Challenge
Write about a childhood memory
Either a memory or some kind of association, like the smell, taste or touch of something, that gives you nostalgia. Keep it clean and don't write anything you wouldn't read aloud to my grandmother.

Wanderer

When I was a boy

I had wandered the

Lone desert

With an empty sky

Above me, wandering

With a friend and

After time I had

Lost him and

So was I to him

Until we crossed

Paths and civilization

Had found us once again.
