Death’s Design

(12 June 2012)

Ha ha ha

Death's design will soon be mine

And you will be my puppet, boy

Be careful where you tread

For the land of the dead beckons you, boy

Divine as such, a puppeteer is

Dangling and wrangling another wooden, you

And when you are broken

These words will be spoken:

"Into the fire you go!"

Ha ha ha

Tell me, boy

Do you feel dead?

You will be laid upon coals of fire

A puppeteers' strings hold you fast

Wrapped around your body, you shudder and gasp

Every last breath will be mine

Ha ha ha

Tell me, boy

Do you feel dead?

You will be shoved into a furnace of liars

The flames lick your body,

The lies fuel their desire

Your body will smoulder

And burn

And crumble

But what can you do?

But writhe and mumble

Ha ha ha

How do you like me now, boy?

Talking and mocking

You could never take a hint

Where is your God, boy?

Ah, yes, look to the light

Hell delights you?

Fire illumes the night

Death's design now is mine

And you are my puppet, boy

Don't worry where you tread

For the land of the dead is now your home, boy

Divine as such, a puppeteer is

I dangled and wrangled another wooden, you

And since you are broken

These words are spoken:

"Into the fire you go!"

Lines in the Sky

(05 July 2012)

When you look out

to the noontime sky

What do you see?

Do you wonder why?

Do you see strange shapes,

stars, connected by invisible lines?

Does it remind you of something?

The lines of our lives.

Is yours a strange shape,

or are you perfectly aligned?

Do your lines connect

the stars in your life?

Are you a constellation,

a solar system, or,

a star?

Or do people see you through a telescope

from afar?

When you look out

to the nighttime sky,

what do you see?

Do you wonder why?

Do you see yourself?

Do you see your life;

do you ever wonder

if you are living it right?

Is yours a strange shape?

Or is it perfectly aligned.

Do your actions connect

your purpose in life?

When is Enough

(07 July 2016)

Oh 5:45 AM what have you done to me? Another sleepless, dreamless.....

Did I try hard enough, did I fight long enough, did I ask "why" loud enough

Am I enough.

Did I fail us? In the trial I lied and what on earth was I thinking....

I made sure we kept sinking....

You tied up your saddle and ran from the battle as soon as the fight looked rough

I tried to dismantle this torturous, grappling lust

It wasn't enough.

And come from the mantle, knees dark from the ground and dust

Look up and what I see is the ceiling, where's this light, they said "trust"

Stumble without a crutch

Careful to flee the terrible scene, we parted our merry way

One off to the stables and I'm off to label the things I have lost

See that I'm able, you could have cared a little...more

But my heart is nailed to the floor.

And half of the me she tearfully believed, learned my words were not enough

And half of the me I have left of me says "don't start giving up."

Maybe I need to learn when enough is enough.

Little Leaf, Grow

(12 March 2016)

I saw you today, in a dream

You smiled through me into oblivion

Something caught your eye

I turned to see, then back

And the air was still twisting where you had stood

...just a moment before

A little leaf caught in the whirl

And rested moments later

And that dear little green thing

This little emerald gem

Was rooted in ash. I never felt the flame

Is that how you were gone so quickly?

Such a precious thing, I sat and learned

I listened to the whistle of air through my hair

Like your whispers, like your kisses

I heard you say "patience"

"Take your tired love, let it rest"

I saw you today, in a song

I could hear you wonderfully attune, dancing

I felt your hips and your hands

I remember I was at peace

This little leaf, dancing

I never thought I could love such a small thing ever more

I never thought someone so much larger than life

Could coalesce into such elegance, such purity

Such...

Words fail me when I saw you today

You wore my Opal, my heart on your sleeve

Hair back, white dress flowing

You smiled through me into oblivion...

When I saw you today I saw Everything I've ever wanted to know,

And I missed your rebirth when I turned away

Now I have a little pile of dry ash tears

And I'll wait to see if it grows.

Where Did Those Days Go

(12 March 2016)

My heart left his pulse in the arms of another

Forgot how to beat all on his own

My heart gave his life for the smile of his lover

Come home, come home, come home.

And a tiny little skip, he's trying his best

But the mind says it's just no use

Give it time, please just rest

But the body is dying, too

Where's my hope when I'm all alone

Traveling on some foreign road

Silence is free, there's no feeling inside

I wonder if I'll sleep, at last

Oh, and my heart left his pulse in the arms of another

Said please oh please oh please

Don't you go, oh, my peerless lover

I let you down so shamefully so

And where did those days go

When I held your face to mine

I gave you my love and your smile, it shined

And where did those days go

When you said you were mine

I miss you, I'm sorry, goodbye....

Nightmares

(09 May 2016; 3:03 AM)

I created the worst of

Doubts

The ones that tug at the cords of sanity

And the mindless chords shrieking, piercing

Tied and tried, tears soaked, love looped

Looped tight, strung high

What better way

To make them die.

I Thank Thee

(25 March 2015)

Sometimes I scream so the dead of night awakes to see

Its dreaming cut short by mortals, I'm sorry, but I need you to be

Immoral, see me bleed so your anger seethes

And do the deed so I can sleep until the morrow

Please, don't be angered by

My sorrow, I called you from your slumber because it wouldn't be much longer

Until the day I die, and the night you rise would paralyze my fate

I thank you for another day

Could I testify to arraign the crime

Sanctify your heinous, fine,

Reaction

Partners in kind, I've done my time

A sinister attraction.

Petals of the Rose

(07 May 2014)

The rose petals filter through the stems, the leaves, dodge the thorns and rest in peace

On the floor of this damp domicile, the earth welcomes and consumes this gentle pile

They darken and become brittle, once red; now dry, broken, crumbled

A brisk wind comes to sweep away, nature's broom, blow the beauty from this room

Rustle the firm trestle, rattle from within, more petals fall and are whisked by the wind

Soon the bush becomes bare, naked bulbs exposed, the bees stop returning, death to the rose

Every red tear shed, every thorn glinting on a crimson stain, not all escape heartache's pain

The bush remains dotted with pierced hearts, until the crippling wind tears them apart

In time the bulbs too expire, the loveless bodies they've become, dull and without fire, they're done

A harsh crack shatters the soundless night, this lone bud plummets none to quiet

A silent scream joins the cacophony, heard above the wind's torrential thrashing

And crashes hard upon this dark, damp floor; alone, its petals are no more

The stripped bush and all its tangled thorns are heard chattering in the gale

Exposed, all petals of the rose gone, every bud exiled to the whipping wail

It appears to shiver, and the dew collects as tears, washing the stains and dripping to the earth

Glistening in the night, a pool of red too shines, renewed under the fullness of the moon

Sweet Heart

(12 December 2015)

And sweet heart, I see your tears

Dropping to the earth, staining, steam

Destroys the minerals and life screams

For the hurt here is genuine

The thirsty earth is suffering

And the potency, this urgency

This clergy seems distraught

If the most joyful of them is lost now

Where is God

And her brother! That brother in arms

In arms warm and snug, wanting his love

And where's it gone, she stands alone

A tiny little rope tied now,

But the boat isn't strapped to the dock now

And she stands alone, like a post

and the wind will blow and she will wait

In sleet and snow, termites grow

The wood is old and she is no

The loving hand that carved her and

Sanded down the edges, saddened by the message

His craft is no more, and she only stood to moor

A single vessel

Butterfly Kisses

(10 March, 2016)

A soft goodbye kisses my heart like a butterfly

Fleeting and faint, that colorful lip stain stayed

And buried itself beneath the tissue, crafted a home as though it had strayed,

Believing its place is elsewhere, and she flew away.

I watch her wings, she never turns back.

And might a flower pick himself for another?

Let those petals wither, thirst for water;

Carry the treasure of the promise:

Return next August.

And might a garden allure, with those scents so fine?

A Daffodil, a Rose, striking Chrysanthemums,

And put the inferior bud to shame?

Might they catch her eye and turn those red wings,

Might they take her from me?

And won't the Rain come to quench my thirsty roots; I wish to grow

And won't the Winds come to disrupt my stay?

Tear me from this poisoned sod.

Tear me away.

A soft goodbye kissed my heart like a lullaby.

Loving, but tired, her voice unlearned my name,

Believing her place is elsewhere

And she flew away.
