Warrior

Forgiveness rides a sharp edge

balanced on the blade of rage

angled ever so slightly by

the gravity of the situation

If I hold my breath I will lash out

a rush of words that cannot be unheard

relationships shredded by my tongue

Sometimes I don’t care who gets cut

It feels good to tear into those

who slash first. It feels just to kill

the ill-mannered, ill-tempered, but

the ill-prepared will not bear my wrath

I will hear the words they excuse themselves with

I will breathe evenly, even when I want to scream

For my ire is worth more than the pinprick of annoyance

My anger is powerful, potent, and poised

for battle, not trivial trials and error

If I cannot hold my tongue like a whip

I have no claim to the title warrior
