Canon Ball Launch

An English teacher once was I

And often found under my eye

A work of somber snobbery

What must I do but force the young

To acquiesce to savage tongue

long-winded, pompous bobbery

I tell them all what they "should" think

But all the while I'm on the brink

Of telling them "It's robbery!"

Our time is lost, and can't be gained

So long it takes to ascertain

If this is but some jobbery

Touted for the very reason

that its native publish season

Someone paid the mobbery.

(Oh well.  It was good while it lasted.)
