Rob the Bees

Raw honey's magic has been hailed

since early human times;

its properties are quite diverse,

but cooking's where it shines.

It can be used for everything

from coffee cake to mead;

but when our honey jars run dry,

we must go rob the bees.

They do not mind so much, I think,

to share a bit with me;

today I've got spare time to bake

this wondrous recipe.

It calls for one cup of whole milk,

a cup of cornmeal too,

a quarter cup of honey, raw;

now stir it with a spoon.

Then add two eggs, a pinch of salt,

and half a stick of melted ghee

(or butter, if you're so inclined;

I will not disagree!)

You also need some baking powder

(a tablespoon, my friend),

a half a cup of sugar, too,

and lastly flour (bread).

Now stir while you incorporate

the flour (it's a cup),

then grease your pan and pour the mix

into the pan- don't slop!

Preheat to four hundred degrees,

and bake it fifteen ticks

(or minutes if you're keeping track)

then prick it with a stick...

And when your toothpick comes out clean,

you're ready to enjoy

the tasty treat the bees helped bake:

a honey cornbread, oi!
