When you look at your wrist, your veins are blue.
This color comes from the Iron.
While we perceive iron as fairly common, it only naturally occurs in one place.
See, stars burn by fusing elements. When they run out of hydrogen, they burn helium, and when they run out of helium, they burn... you get the idea.
When stars create and burn iron, they become too heavy and collapse. The new element is thrown into every corner of the galaxy until someday, eventually, it finds its way into the blood in your veins.
It could be argued that we are all made of stardust.
The stars burn and die, filling the sky with their brilliant and beautiful colors, so that something more brilliant and beautiful can live.
So think of that the next time you think you're nothing special- or that the world would be better off without you.
The truth is, the world worked very hard to make you.
an experience with boys.
He told me I was pretty and I took it as a compliment, because frankly, I don't think I am pretty.
He told me he wanted to get to know me, he said he wanted to talk.
I knew what he really wanted, but I was willing to ignore my instincts in hopes that maybe I was wrong.
Well, I wasn't wrong.
In fact, I've rarely been wrong when it comes to boys.
So from now on I will not be sweet. I will not be easy to talk to.
I will not allow them to walk all over me any longer.
I will walk into every room with my chin up, because I will walk into every room knowing I am
stronger and more
than any one of those boys.
beauty, my love.
Beauty's lips are a bright red,
like of a star on the silver screen.
When she speaks, heads turn,
even more than when she walked in.
Her lips move with elegance
and her voice is lovely as her face.
And from those pretty, red lips,
she speaks pretty, poisonous words.
She draws you in and strikes you down.
There is nothing poetic about it.
this is not about seasons.
seasons come as quickly as they go
and the shining summer romance,
is lost to the first fall of snow.
the winds begin to change,
as do you.
but worry not-
that snow melts too.
spring brings back the color
that you so missed, and maybe
it doesn't bring back the lover,
but you don't mind.
because spring has brought you something new,
completely out of the blue.
far too lovely
She is too lovely,
and you are too late.
She is the woman you've never desired,
though your meeting was set by fate.
And here she is, smiling so beautifully,
ready to escort you to the gate.
She will take your hand, and just
watch for you to underestimate
the power in her fingertips.
She is too lovely,
and you are all alone.
But she has haunted men's dreams,
and she has taunted your own.
You thought you'd have the time
to at least atone,
but she has a schedule.
Lady Death is not merciless, no.
But she does not discriminate
between the sinner and the saint.
We thought the worst part about alien life
would be the actual aliens.
We have entire genres dedicated to what we would do
in case of an attack launched by our intergalactic enemies.
And yet, when aliens were discovered,
there was no such attack.
They were different, yes,
but that did not make them evil.
One should rejoice, no?
We are not going to fall victim
to the stronger, more powerful beings.
They are not going to kill us and take our land,
they are not going to perform any experiments.
That's all they wanted.
To deny that simple request would make us the fearsome, evil aliens we so feared,
so coexistence it was.
So even without the gruesome war
between ourselves and aliens,
we were unhappy.
Is it because they look different?
Is it because we don't understand each other?
They are not more intelligent.
They are not more attractive.
In fact, we are mostly the same.
We were all formed from the same Big Bang, after all.
So why is it that we fear the aliens?
Why would we rather be attacked than live in peace?
Why is it that we crave violence from them?
The answer is simple and crushing.
We had it through our heads that our galaxy was designed
No one else.
Now we are forced to come to terms with the reality worse than we could imagine.
Not the reality that we are not alone - we can accept that.
We cannot accept
that we are not even
