Don’t Switch Off The Lights
Switch off the lights, someone there.
Switch on the lights, no one’s there.
Do it again; it comes closer.
Don’t switch off the lights.
Within
Claws of no mercy dig into my flesh.
Eyes of blind fury.
Giant teeth of silver
sharpened to knife point, deadly.
The monster is inside.
Don’t be like Her
Tumbling down stairs were hundreds of dolls in floral dresses with their heads spun backwards. "Don't close your eyes." whispered one, "Don't be like us."
Hungry for People
The house had an appetite that couldn't be sated. It consummed every person who ever owned it, regurgitating and killing them over and over again.
Trepidation
The lights flicker.
Empty footsteps on the hardwood floor.
Knocking at the creaking door.
Pitch black darkness.
Bloodcurdling screams.
Who was that?
Oh no!
Me.

Stuck at Home
Family photos
Staring at me from each wall
I step back but can’t move forward.
They are reaching out at me. The photos are real.
when it stands silent
the pitter-patter
of tiny feet
or those god-awful screams
of her last moments
ghostly laughter
ringing in an empty house
sinister things hide in darkness
GPS
GPS says you're out in the yard. I call out to you, before seeing your head pinned to the wall. GPS says you're in now.
Till death doesn’t do us part
Any attempt at sleep is thwarted nightly as the husband she murdered materializes and rapes her, whispering softly with kisses, "There is no perfect crime."
Alone
I felt the tingling of a breath up my spine, rattling my being. "Momma?" I called to the apathetic darkness. But I was utterly alone.
