A Truth in a Lie

High school was a difficult time in my life. Whether it was true or not, at 16, I was my high school’s flirtatious douchebag who apparently cared more about sleeping with girls than applying for colleges (Well, who wouldn’t in that age anyway?). Thankfully, my closest friends knew most rumors weren’t true, and some people were more than ready to accept any notion that I was more of a studious friend who was lost in the middle of a love triangle than a flirt who tried bringing a new girl home everyday (would that even be possible?).

I did care for my schooling, though I suppose my noticeable love affairs demonstrated otherwise: I was too concerned about my relationship with my girlfriend at the time and had old feelings for an ex girlfriend that I ‘dated’ back in middle school (“dated” as in the occasional hand-holding and kiss-on-the-cheek ordeal).

Regardless of what my classmates chose to believe, I suppose there was some truth to who they thought I was. Amidst the love triangle I was in, and the unreal numbers of girls I had apparently brought home everyday after school (Seriously. How?), I did something that both my trusty friends nor my rumor-headed peers knew about...

At one point, during my love timeline with the girl I loved and the girl I dated, I did end up bringing a new girl home--she was a freshman no one knew I would text every now and then. The love triangle between my ex and current girlfriend finally broke, and the rumors (At one point) became true.

Does this make me the flirt everyone amounted me to be? A sex-crazed deviant waiting for the next opportune time to bring home a new victim?

Perhaps it is true... But, at least it’s a truth no one knows about.
