Tropical Cyclone

Tequila's faint sting lingers in the mouth.

Night's light strews, yielding a poor simulacrum,

Beach's rumble rings a migrating mammoth,

Flaring sands blaze like stars with every crumb,

Spotless shore surrounds -- neither exit nor

Entrance. Singularly atop the grains,

Gentle sea breezes -- pin upon the shore,

Gyring hermit shells unwind to straight lanes,

Blue waters foam -- remnants of dawn's spewing,

Shirt sticks, cocktail of sweat and pestilence,

Threat of emerging memory looming,

With wings of blue clarity? grey absence?

Roaring crash quiets as blinding sun dims.

Water's soothing and peaceful -- though thirst brims.
