Darkest Dreams
In a solemn reverie,
A shade has lifted free;
And over the heads of so many
A stark chain of eyes descends
And confounds the very dark,
To shine where once there was a door
Unseen,
To make what may have been
In a way that was,
A miniature of an ancient way,
A star that might have known
How our minds have grown,
And will show us how to use our hearts,
No longer to condemn the parts
That wished to go away.
For in our deepest darkest dreams,
Something wakes.
