Morning wood
Sleep was slow to leave her when she awakened that morning, as she had for most of her adult life, in her husband's embrace. As she thought to turn over for a morning kiss, she realized she was held fast in a frigid grip, her husband having slipped into eternal slumber some time after whispering, "Good night...I love you."
