My Best Friend
We sat to dinner,
my best friend and I.
Noticed him thinner
and that is when I
complimented him.
Very suddenly
his countenance dimmed
as he announced, "We
are no longer friends.
This is now our end."
Kissing me
abruptly,
he whispered,
"Haven't you heard?
My contagion
comes from pigeons."
