If I were a teapot
Pick an inanimate object from everyday life and write from the perspective of said object. What is its history? What does it feel, think? How might it interact with other objects around it?
The Captain (smoke alarm)
In every building, in every home
I sit and wait all alone.
You walk right past me every day
never once do you look my way.
You get so angry you yell at me
each time I try to communicate my needs.
I am here to help and you will see
when things go ablaze, you'll depend on me.
I'll speak to you and say it loud
Wake up, wake up! Please get out!
You'll leave me again, but I won't flip.
Cause a captain always goes down with his ship.
