Homo Sapiens

We called ourselves wise

But are we really

We look at the world and all its splendor

And most can only think of what it could do for you

The forest, the ocean, the mountains, and the deserts.

Places of life and beauty, yet we only see what is convenient.

All we do is take and claim what we think is valuable,

If we even notice.

Technology is the ‘greatest ’ invention

The controllers of our attention

Always on your phone, tablet, or computer.

Take a photo, tweet your amazement,

Look at me look at what I am doing.

See where I am.

But are you really there

Are you really experiencing Life’s wonder?

Are you seeing nature for its truth 

and not what you have decided it is

Do you understand the balance do you see the toll

We are thought the ‘top’ of the food chain.

But by whose authority?

Homo sapiens,

You have so much to learn.
