Almost Forfeiture

When they opened their mouths

Her heart sank.

When her tiny self

Spoke loudly,

They shouted her down.

When she occupied

Her space

In her own

Special way,

They wrapped her up,

And bade her not to go out.

So she learned to fold and cower to all.
