If you are paying attention,

you’ll see it

on crystal clear nights

when the moon is dim

and the joke is on us,

looking up,

when we ought

to be looking in.

They know

what we don’t,

the truth

we leave hidden

in morning bustle,

in afternoon hustle.

They know,

so they wink,

and they hope,

one day,

someday,

we remember.
