Quiet

Quiet is an emotional state with which I am all too familiar

It is when all of your sorrows are drowning

In what you thought was happiness

But you were young and naive

Just looking for someone to occupy your space

To run your fingers across my face

But instead, here I sit

In my own cocooned space

Surrounded by the quiet

I can only hear the thumping

Of my heart

Continuing to beat through the lonely night

Amassed by the quiet

Everyone else is asleep and peacefully dreaming

And I am wide-eyed and awake

Oh how I wish someone would

Take me away from the quiet

And lead me to where life is alive
