In The Eyes Of ...
Equality’s not measured
By words
Or even laws
One son rides an open road
One dies an afterthought
I’ve heard a lot of talking
“Great progress has been made”
When we take three steps ahead
They pine for olden days
Plain terrified of change
My dad
He was no man of words
But what he said was wise
He told me that where freedom rings
All people hear the cries
Fear turns hills to mountains
It’s brought about such pain
We never will have equal
Until we see the same
Until we feel the chains
