Fire is alive

An alien organism

It’s been around longer than we have

It’s life is usually short

It reaches out to see what it can touch

Flickering and feeling

Like the serpents tongue It tastes the air

It is warmth and light

We may not caress to express our gratitude

Instead we create great monuments

machines of metal or rust

It birthed our world as we know it

And yet we still have no depth in our understanding

We do not understand it’s purpose or afterlife

Only two phrase from its dialect

Swallow and burn
