What Should You Give Me Before I Go?

*This is a response to an off-site prompt.*

Give me a hug. Touch me, hold me before I go

For when I should return escapes me. Give me my coins, close my eyes

For I know the end is near, but let us imagine otherwise. Give me your word, pinkie promise

For you know you cannot break a finger six feet into the abyss. Give me nothing else, but a foe

For we know to where I fall nothing may follow. Give me nothing more, not a friend

For you know I cannot carry that with me to the end. Give me your pain, your hurt

For I know grief harms not the dirt.
