Autumnal Ruminations

The leaves are gold,

The air is honey-sweet.

A biting breeze breathes life

Into my sleepy soul.

Am I at rest? Is this peace?

Oddly foreign, to feel at home,

And yet, I find it so:

In the senescence of the year,

I am reborn.
