crimson forests

the forests bleed crimson

the wind tearing painful howls from trees

a sanguinary act interrupting the peace

the construction sounds like bullets

as they tear apart the roots of proud plants

it's a bloodbath and no one can see it but me

they've grown tall for years, only to be razed to the ground

for merely our selfish needs 

we can't see that the trees soak in blood

and scream in agony as they burn 

their suffering chalked up as modernization

but it's children's knees that rub against the concrete

as we beg hoping to save the last evergreens 

please save the trees
