Beginnings...
I have them, and I’m sure you have them... books (or short stories) begun, but never quite finished. Submit a beginning that draws us in, something we won’t want to put down. The winner will go to the beginning we most want to read the end to.

The Descendants

The whole house was at sixes and seven. My parents decided on a family outing two seconds ago. My father was never much of a planner and mom catering to his whims these fourteen years was not left much of a planner either. So, here we were two siblings battling against the sands of time, in order to pack every necessity for two days. The necessities included for my nine year old brother a book on Newtonian Physics. I could never completely fathom his desire to understand Sciences when there was this whole universe of extremely intricate unpredictable human mind. Humans themselves were a mystery for me, so I packed my favourite Forbidden Psychology in my teensy bunny backpack and both of us were done. Until, we heard our mom yelling to pack some real necessities this time.

By the time my brother realised that the thing he forgot was his toothbrush, we were already on the highway off to a small cozy town of Hakone. As me and my brother fought over which song to be played, we would have never guessed that these were the last days of our 'normal' mundane life as the forces which were beyond our understanding and vision were on the brink of eruption...
