Genie
Your friend calls you up and tells you to meet them at their house. They say they found a magic lamp and they have three wishes. You meet the genie and it's undisputably a being of magic. Your friend then precedes to wish for a new pair of shoes, an iPhone, and some hair ties. The lamp disappears once they have completed their job. What is your reaction?
Genie
Um... Can we share what you wished for? I ask, waiting for her reply.
(You better give me the iPhone, I silently think while glaring at her expectantly.)
It's probably best to make use of what we have right now, instead of brooding over what we could have gained.
