Phoenix

I've never been afraid of fire. This is something that alarmed my father on more than one occasion. I can still feel beating I got from trying to stick my hand in a flame when I was 8.

Dad just doesn't get it. He doesn't understand. The flames call to me. I can hear my name in the crackling of the wood and the smell of the smoke is irresistible.

I never get hurt by the flames. We have an understanding. As long as I don't get burned I'll keep the flames as high as they'll go. From the ashes I'll light them anew.
