What do you think is the worst thing humans do to each-other?

An Introduction

Is there hope for mankind, so depraved?

Is there light in a world full of darkness;

Death filling hearts and young, their graves?

Will it end and find, someday, its due justice?

I cringe to think the worst finds place in me

A trait of which, humanity, I’m part

What holds back the tides of hate at sea;

Can the shore be the love within my heart?

It’s written “love your neighbor as yourself”

Yet, seldom do I see the kindness kill

Does the worst stem from hatred of ourselves;

Self loathing till the hatred finally spills?

The worst that a human does in hate

Hate for self, his creator and others

Acknowledging our helpless human state;

Is the best that a human has to offer

It’s often said that, “love is the answer”

As if we loved more we’d outweigh the hate

But who could love me; a wretched sinner;

Born into the curse of mankind’s fate?

It’s prideful to think we hold the cure

For disease that has lived as long as man

Having hearts that are deceitful and impure

Spinning wheels as if to think we somehow can

Yes, indeed, we need to love one another

But broken, each, we are in our condition

Dare I think, my strength, love I’ve discovered

To Love, everyone needs introduction
