The Ache
It settles in my chest as I dial the number
And strengthens as I wait through each ring
The payoff, your "hello" in my ear
Yet the ache still remains
Hearing your voice, seeing your picture in my mind's eye
You over there and me over here
Distance separating us
But still we wait through the pain.
