the crisp air pierces

as thoughts

untangle and stir

a subtle ache

penetrates

the dagger

is still

and finally in place

the art of letting go

has unclenched

it’s last string

yesterday’s memories

are blackened ; faded

it is time to bask,

in the distant sunlit rays
