I get it, you need space.

You bathe in the glory of taking your own breaths,

Singing along to your poems about respect.

Then I came into your life,

Intruding your home without a knock.

But you let me in,

Your front door was unlocked.

A mat on your porch,

It said "welcome" as I wandered.

Closer to you,

A dream to which I only pondered.

You sat me down,

Handed me a warm glass of tea.

Opened a journal,

Showed me letters you wanted to read.

We talked all night,

We even sat on the roof.

But deep inside,

You knew you had to choose.

You were losing yourself,

The night slowly drifting away.

But you remembered,

It was your house I chose to invade.

Remebering the door,

How you kept it unlocked.

The welcome mat,

How deceiving you thought.

Anyone is welcome

In your house anytime.

Afterall I was a robber,

But you treated me so kind.

I didnt come for the gold or your valuables,

I must confess.

Instead I came for a safe,

Buried deep within your chest.

They say love is blind,

And I cant see where im going.

No matter how hard you slap me,

I'll still try to keep your smile glowing.

But to respect yourself,

Its problems you need to face.

So baby girl I get it,

You need space.
