Ode to my Brain

I am physically and mentally spent!

I want and need sleep,

But I doubt I can even put a dent

Into the exhaustion that through me seeps.

I have a machine to keep me breathing.

I have medication to keep me snoozing.

Unfortunately my brain is seething!

Thoughts, ideas, and questions oozing!

The lights are out.

The electronics are off.

Beginning to doubt

That my brain can shut off!

Please brain......
