Acceptable to some but not to me

They speak of freedom

While stripping them away

Slowly

One layer at a time

They spin lies as news

Pandering to ignorance

Spreading hate and fear

While speaking the same ideas

they say they are against

Pulling the wool over their eyes

Saying it is for the good of us all

They throw petty criminals in jail

As mass murders roam the street

Hand them a badge

And set them free

Money speaks louder than words

Lining their pockets

Corruption consumes

As the thieves take their thrones

Surrounded by cronies

Whispering fallacies into their ear

All the while

We sit idly

Waiting for something to change
