Language

See if you can

Think about an apple without words

Think about its figure, its bright red skin glistening in the light.

Think about its taste, a sweet and sour explosion in your mouth

Think about the noise it makes as you bite into it, a crisp satisfaction.

Think about the smell of it, a sweet aroma with a fresh earthy twist

making you imagine its previous life, swaying in the fresh air.

Think about the feel of it, a freshly washed raincoat covering up a young and sheltered inside.

What is it like to think without words?

Words can only describe biting into a fresh apple on a sunny day.

A frustrating paradox, your mind speaks but your words stutter.

Your thoughts rush through a sieve:

the bright red skin

the sweet and sour explosion

the crisp satisfaction

the sweet aroma

easily pass through

but

the Apple

is left

behind.

Language is the crutch of our imagination: its lifts us up yet holds us to the ground, as the apple lies just beyond

A fingers reach.
