Baby Doll

From the time we are born,

We are treated like baby dolls.

Light to hold,

Soft to touch,

Scared that any scrape

Would result in a foreign scar

Manipulating our bodies

Making them untouchable

undesirable to look at

and be admired by the male’s prying eyes.

Baby doll you are nice to look at,

Is that soft skin of yours untouched?

We are taught not to speak our minds,

The words that come out of our mouths

Needs to be lady like

Soft like our skin

Easy to listen to.

Using foul language

Makes us unstable,

Unusable,

A whore.

Go back to the kitchen,

Make a sandwich

Your words mean nothing.

Nothing--

Like how we are something to look at,

Treated like animals,

Cat calling,

Wild animalistic voices

Spill out like vomit.

Touched when wanted,

Then thrown away like trash.

Our fragile baby doll like bodies

Needs guidance from the ego they say,

Our soft minds can’t handle the pressure.

From the time we are born,

We should know a woman’s body.

A temple for her taking, liking

Her desire to be nourished

For a strong building

That can’t be knocked down

By words, force, actions of the ego.

Not a baby doll with soft skin,

But a warrior with thick desire to achieve

Her own needs.

Speak the words that will demolish a nation,

Powered by the need and unintended consequence.

Soft skin thickened with leather,

By the voice of the ego.

From the time we are born,

We are phenomenal women.

With a voice that starts flames,

Glowing fire in our eyes,

With the flash of our teeth,

Swing of our waist.

We aren’t a baby doll,

Soft to touch,

Light to hold.

But a woman,

Phenomenally.
