Don’t Hurt Them

They walk with wisdom

    we don't grasp

Majesty generation to

    generation passed

Hunted and exploited

    by our evil kin

Not holding them sacred

    is a universal sin

One look deep into

    intelligent eyes

Should invoke us to mourn

    when one of them dies

Mercy is sadly not

    ingrained in us all

And that lack of mercy is

    what will cause our fall

May the touch of angels

    ease the pain

Of those tortured for selfish,

    greedy gain

May their soft wings

    cushion every blow

The captors land if they

    move too slow

May those who hurt them

    live to regret

The deeds they've done

    and never forget

May they one day feel

    three fold the agony

That they carelessly inflicted,

   and may it last eternity.
