Fire
Write something about fire, metaphoric or literal, poetry or prose.

Phoenix

I've never been afraid of fire. This is something that alarmed my father on more than one occasion. I can still feel beating I got from trying to stick my hand in a flame when I was 8.

Dad just doesn't get it. He doesn't understand. The flames call to me. I can hear my name in the crackling of the wood and the smell of the smoke is irresistible.

I never get hurt by the flames. We have an understanding. As long as I don't get burned I'll keep the flames as high as they'll go. From the ashes I'll light them anew.

Enough

I never thought it would end like this.

Nothing but skulls and bones scattered around the world we once knew.

Our love is all that remains.

I can't help but wonder if it's enough.

Where does Magic come from?
pastelr0ses

Magic

Magic comes from pain, from loss. Magic isn't something you strive to have here, but no one leaves this world without it. A curse, a burden, and an inevitable reality. The best you can hope for is having little magic to your name.

Challenge
Character Interrogation.
For this one, something a little different. Instead of a long prose or poem in the actual challenge text, just two things. Genre and character name. In the comments, everyone else can throw questions your way which you answer as replies to those comments in character. If your character doesn't know something, you don't. If he believes something different to what you do, you take the character's point of view fully.

Challenge
It's Lover's Month, and Valentine Day is behind us ... but the love, joy, happiness and peace of mind still remain... can you breathe it in? Write, either in Prose or Poetry form, a "lost letter" you wanted to send someone in your life that tells how you felt about him/her; a letter they never saw.
Make sure I am tagged only in the comment section and not in the post itself or I may never find you ... tag me as: @Danceinsilence

To An Old Lover

I have never loved someone the way I loved you. Yes, I've been in love after you but it was nothing like the pure ecstacy I felt when I was with you. I don't know if I will ever love someone that way again. It makes me wonder if we missed our chance...I wish there wasn't so many obstacles in our way right now but at the same time I'm glad for them. There would be no heartbreak as severe as the one I'd suffer if I found out the fire between us was gone.

Roots

The roots of your soul are digging into mine. I can feel them spreading, creating a network throughout me. I can feel you taking everything to you. I don't need it as much as you do.

When we stop talking I will rip your roots out of me trying to keep as much of my soul intact as possible. I'll lose some of myself but not all and hopefully it will be enough to provide the next soul with what they need.

Starburst

You remind me of the night sky. Always bright and shining, The surface of your skin is speckled with the consequences of past experiences that I won't even try to fathom but, hopefully I will be there as new stars explode into existence.

Fresh Blood
poetry/prose
pastelr0ses in Flash Fiction

The River-Man

Fresh blood. The metallic tang was unmistakable. I peered around the corner to find the source and to my surprise it was a river. A river flowing with blood. The red liquid sloshed around the sides as the river came to a curve. Where did all this blood come from? Where the hell is it going?

My breath caught.

There was a man standing in the middle of the bloody mess. He was bathing in it. I stumbled back in disgust.

In a dark, dark wood

“People don’t change,” Nina said bitterly. “They just get more punctilious about hiding their true selves.”

Challenge
Define love in your own words.
How would you describe love to someone that's never heard of it?
pastelr0ses in Words

Love

It’s the stars in your eyes when you look at me. It’s the butterflies I get when I think of you.
