Boundaries

He cries for Freedom

and we haul him back;

we chain him so he doesn't

disappear.

He doesn't understand that

once you cross the line

there's simply nothing there.

Burning On

Life

So treasured and valued

Yet so quickly gone

How can it be

That our everything

Ends to nothing

I refuse to believe

That when my time comes

I will just leave this place

Like a passing storm

I will not allow

My footsteps on the sand

To be washed away

And replaced the next day

No

You will remember me

I will carve

Through your heart

Like a river

Running to the sea

I will dot

Your soul

Like a brand new snowfall

Covering a cavern hole

I will burn my image

Across your eyes

Like a star

In the dark night sky

I will take your breath

With the words I write

As my pages of ink

Stay forever in your life

One day

My time will be done

As my body grows

As cold as stone

But the memories of my life

Will never die

As they burn on through

And spread the fire

Of my life

A Lifetime

Breathe. We live. We die. Goodbye.

The night poetry came to life

A wide-eyed night

Poetry playing before our eyes

Starving for every line

We numbed our faces

And blew our minds

Bloody Lines

She picks up her blade

Rolls up her sleeve

Committing one act

Of conformity

The lines she leaves

Are as straight as can be

Perfect

Like she could never be

Lost

I'm lost without you here.

My mind keeps drifting off.

Off to the sea where you splash in salt with me.

Off to the moon where we watch the stars zoom by.

Off to the mountains where you teach me how to fly.

But my favorite one of all

is when we're alone on my couch,

and you kiss me to fill me with more ideas when you're gone.

Lines

Rehearsed and memorized

Your true being: disguised

Or a time to be true

Yet still hide out of view

Performing for the crowd

Your true thoughts said aloud
