It's a little city,

in a little province,

in a little region,

of Spain.

There is chewing-gum on the sidewalks,

there are ashtrays on every table,

there are boys that will follow girls that wear short skirts,

there are girls that will wear short skirts so that boys will follow.

There is also

proud students,

devoted couples,

and street sweeps.

It's my little city,

in my little province,

in my little region,

of Spain.

There's a flicker 

of hope.

Then I answer,

too much,

too long,

too invested,

and it's gone.
