Not Waving........Drowning

It will seek you

Though experience

Has turned you

It will find you

In cold blooded ways

Absent of knowing

It will push you

To embrace it

On death of hope

It will hold you

Grasp to grip

To openhanded

You will die

As you should

A Kiss Before Dying

I dance with Death

She's Life's dark wife

And when we're done

She swings her scythe

But not before

A single kiss

To seal

Long Sleep's

Unending bliss

Guns and Bibles

I yearned to rule the world

And so, I built a church

Convincing all my brethren

That the godless we must hurt

Some were unbelievers

And so, I sewed a flag...

Of honor did we sing

Killing conquering everything

Whenever peace should threaten

Give 'way more books and guns

That every fledgling nation learns

War's lucrative and fun

I count my gold upon a throne

Built of bloody bones,

"Would you like a bible?

"Here's a gun, protect your home..."

She Pleads

maggots lick her dark secrets

and disappear into sadness.

she can't run from illusions

and plagues follow her close behind...

beehives swarm her mind,

making babies in her thoughts.

Confined

On the darkest days these walls would hear my exhausted sighs.

Silence would rip apart the space where my heart has cried.

Madness is my mentor and these walls would surely hear me try.

Talking to myself they hear my lies;

I spend too much time complimenting my lack of sanity filled eyes.

And today scattered on the floor lay my mind.

Within the strokes I’m painting not only to pass time.

Each color -every line the blackness inside unbinds.

If the walls could hear what I’m hearing they’d hear my spirit shrieking.

So I resort to picking up a paint brush and painting.

’Cause when my heart kisses the canvas I’m no longer deteriorating.

Daytime dreaming -you see the darkness is fading.

The walls will tell you they hear my fears receding.

In the canvas my soul is healing.

But surely the walls also see it bleeding.

Nicotine Nazis

Secondhand smoke swirls, surrounding her

Pointing with perfectly polished nails to

"NO SMOKING" signs

"You can't do that!"

Her vapid voice inspires violent visions.

"Bitch," sliding sunglasses southward

"We're outside."

Try

I don't cut good people out of my life at all

The way you do

There's a reason why I try

Every week

Perhaps

Every month

Or

Every year

I will try for good people

I will try to make an effort

Even though I have no chance at all

Even though you don't care to talk

Just to see how you're doing

So if I call you or text you randomly

It's not that I'm trying to irritate you

It's to remind you that you're on my mind

Sometimes you're always on my mind

And I haven't forgotten about you

Life is short

What if you don't tell them how you feel

And tomorrow never comes?

Eating Habits

You are not a bird,

you cannot fly.

Young thing, arms plump

Belly big, all skin and bone

No feathers

No beak to sing through

You are not a bird.

Nor are you a mother,

you cannot carry.

Young thing, always eating,

Belly empty, always full,

No children

No reason to eat so much

Or so little

So tell me,

Who are you trying to feed?
